What a great summer with all the HP in July! I'm looking forward to seeing OotP again, this time on IMAX in 3D (i feel like a little kid every time i say that!). Also, I haven't felt the need to do fanart in such a long time.... but I'm pretty sure I'll have to bite the bullet and do at least a few finished peices, instead of the zillion little doodles i normally hide in sketchbooks.
This is such an odd summer though, as I'm not so much a student anymore, and very nearly a graphic designer! Almost.... >_<
In an internship right now (unpaid, of course) for a non-profit, and after that... looking for a job in the real world! I'm currently putting off an appointment with my career advisor, and not thinking about interviews at the moment. Hey, its summer, right? I don't need a job until October. Which is very very close. My goal will be... Jan 1 2008! Sounds reasonable, right? I'm kind of in the middle right now, not taking classes per se, but not finished with school either.
Going to my internship a few days a week, and otherwise making actual monetary gains through the retail industry (be nice to the people who help you! You do not get to take your awful day out on us! And please, please aknowledge that there is a human being helping you, don't just throw a credit card on the counter and go back to your cell phone conversation and expect your purchase to be magically placed in your free hand a couple minutes later.) ok, breathe! I find myself with actual free time (gasp) since not every second is overtaken by homework. This is a strange occurance and I don't know what to do with my time. It is currently being used poorly on things like TV. Less poorly on an attempt to revive my social life. Go me.
Mostly, I find myself wanting to draw again. I miss printmaking, but its such a hassle to get going on it agian, since I need to find a suitable studio with the right equip. and get back into the swing of things. I really want to focus on techniques though; this means less pretty art peices, and more 1/2 finished less distinguishable concepts tried in different ways. Not really things to post, but hopefully work that will make me better at what I want to do. Yay for ambition!
I need a good figure drawing book, facial anatomy book, and texture/surface treatments book. I figure I should go back to charcol/pastels for a bit before going into inks. Refresher course! ^_^
